Luigi Del Debbio is Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Edinburgh. He graduated from the Scuola Normale  Superiore in Pisa, and held research positions in the UK, France, and Italy before joining CERN as a Fellow. He moved to the University of Edinburgh in 2005, where he is currently the Head of the Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics, and a Wolfson Research Merit Award holder. His research interests span a variety of topics – lattice QCD, nonperturbative phenomena beyond QCD, determinations of PDFs from experimental data, algorithmic studies, High Performance Computing – all theoretically grounded in Quantum Field Theory. He is one of the founders of the NNPDF collaboration, using machine learning techniques to study PDFs, and a member of the RBC-UKQCD collaboration between Edinburgh, Columbia University (US) and Brookhaven National Laboratory (US) working on lattice QCD. He has been a member/chair of Scientific Committees for STFC (UK), Labex OCEVU (France), PRACE (EU), CSCS (Switzerland).
